Forest Hills festival brings the arts to Austin Street

Bookmark and Share

Summer’s almost here and the smell of BBQ and kettle corn is in the air.

Festivals are popping up all over Queens and Sunday marked the 32nd Forest Hills Festival of the Arts located on Austin Street between 69th and 71 Avenue. Organized by the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce, the festival is dedicated to promote the “three C’s:” commerce, community and cultural arts.

With over 60,000 visitors, the festival was a way for members of the community to meet other Forest Hills residents, get their hair beaded and stock up on a variety of artsy knickknacks. Forest Hills residents also got the chance to prove themselves in a hot wing competition.

The festival was an opportunity for new businesses to reach out to local clientele. Guy, of the recently opened on-line bakery Sweet Guy NY, has already booked a wedding and several other parties just from her booth. After moving from Tel Aviv to Forest Hills six years ago, Guy has finally launched her new enterprise.

Keep an eye out for the next art festival in Queens on June 17 in Sunnyside, the Queen of Angel Art Fair.
